GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers shuffled around the field to make plays. He jokingly needled a young receiver about his first Lambeau leap. And perhaps even most importantly, he was one of the calming influences this week on a Packers team beset with injuries. Rodgers threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns, Eddie Lacy ran for another score, and the defence came up clutch in a grinding, 31-13 win Sunday over the Cleveland Browns. "Hang with us fans, it might not be the prettiest game," Rodgers said. "But weve got to kind of win with defence, not turn the ball over and make the plays that are there." Rodgers finished 25 for 36 in methodically carving up Cleveland (3-4) despite already being without two of his top targets in injured receivers James Jones and Randall Cobb. Then tight end Jermichael Finley left on a stretcher with about 10 minutes to go with a neck injury after a late hit by Brown safety Tashaun Gipson on a 10-yard gain. The team later said Finley had movement and feeling in his extremities. "Those are tough to see," Rodgers said. "Not being able to walk off the field I know, in the back of our minds, is kind of our worst nightmare." The Packers pressed on during a rainy night. Coach Mike McCarthy praised Rodgers and the teams other veterans with helping young players called upon to fill the holes at receiver and linebacker. They came through, starting with receiver Jarrett Boykin. Making his first start with Jones and Cobb out, finished with eight catches for 103 yards and a touchdown. On the other side, second-year Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden struggled again. He finished 17 for 42 for 149 yards with an interception and a 2-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Cameron with 6:09 left. "It was definitely slippery, but thats no excuse," Weeden said. "Aaron was throwing the ball just fine" in the rain. Weedens already on the hot seat with fans following his ugly flip that turned into an interception that made lowlight reels in last weeks 31-17 loss to the Lions. The offence has been struggling since Brian Hoyer went down with a season-ending knee injury earlier this month against the Bills. Browns coach Rob Chudzinski said changing quarterbacks Sunday wasnt an option. He also didnt give Weeden a resounding endorsement. "Ill look at the film and well evaluate his play and everybodys play after the game," Chudzinski said. Green Bay (4-2) won its third straight and took over first place in the NFC North. Lacy finished with 82 yards, while Finley had a 10-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter before leaving with the injury. The defence took care of the rest against a struggling Weeden, recording three sacks in spite of being without starting outside linebackers Clay Matthews and Nick Perry. Still the Browns had hope late. Cleveland thought it caught a huge break after recovering an onside kick, only for the play to be erased by an offside penalty. The Packers got the ball back, and Rodgers found Boykin for the touchdown. The second-year pro out of Virginia Tech had two Browns closing in before leaping at about the 1 to stretch the ball out over the goal line to stretch the lead back to 18. "If you dont make the (Lambeau) leap all the way to the wall, youre going to hear about it," Rodgers said. "Im sure if it wasnt, he had a guy help him up." Boykin was just happy to get in the end zone. "I just had to stretch it," he said. "I cant be denied at that point." The Browns did have two nice fourth-quarter kickoff returns that helped set up drives into Green Bay territory, including an 80-yarder by Travis Benjamin that led to Camerons score. Otherwise, bad luck lingered over the Browns like the dark clouds that drenched Lambeau Field with a steady shower most of the game. On an earlier drive, a fourth-down pass from the 31 to Josh Gordon was broken up by Davon House at the last second. House also had the first-quarter interception of Weeden. The Packers finished strong and got off to a hot start. Rodgers connected with Finley for a 7-0 lead after the athletic, 6-foot-5 tight end spun around one defender, then caromed off two others like a pinball into the end zone. Lacy followed on the next drive with a 1-yard score to give Green Bay a two-touchdown lead late in the first quarter. Air Max 200 Uk . The weekend at Oriole Park has been less kind, with three players suffering varying degrees of injury. The worst ailment of the three, at least optically, is the deep bone bruise suffered by Adam Lind when he fouled a pitch off the top of his right foot in the sixth inning of Saturdays game.David Willey blogs on that hat-trick, Adil Rashids potency in India and the challenge of out-blasting West Indies... Taking a hat-trick against England isnt quite how I imagined preparing for my first World Twenty20!It felt strange bowling for a Mumbai XI against my team-mates in our last warm-up game, but after missing out against New Zealand it was great just to get a run out and a few wickets in the end column. My only previous hat-trick came for Northants against Surrey in the 2013 domestic T20 Blast final - a match that, to be fair, had a little more on it.Every wicket for your country means a lot but I struggle to celebrate when you get wickets at the end of the innings because someone slogs it up in the air. Give me a batsman nicking off outside off stump any day - especially if that batsman is Chris Gayle on Wednesday. Our opening game really is up for grabs; I truly believe we have a squad full of match-winners but West Indies play such an entertaining brand of cricket that it could be a case of us thumping them or vice versa. Thats the beauty of Twenty20 cricket.Theyll miss Sunil Narine no doubt but in Gayle, Darren Sammy and Andre Russell they have players with vast global experience, which counts for a lot when youre playing in big tournaments. So to have a captain in Eoin Morgan who knows what it takes to win a global tournament is a real asset. His ability to stay calm in pressure moments has always surprised me and this will be nothing new to him. Jason Roy looks on as I bend my back Everyones raring to go and as a squad we are exactly where we want to be.Weve been fortunate enough to have some good practice sessions at the Wankhede Stadium, the same ground where we play our first couple of games, which is a luxury. Its actually quite a small playing area so the atmosphere should be unbelievable on Wednesday; the passion for cricket here has been overwhelming ever since we touched down, with fans trying to get pictures of us whenever they can - which is a little disconcerting over breakfast! England begin their World T20 campaign against West Indies on Wednesday We didnt beat ourselves up about our defeat to South Africa. We werent quite sharp enough in some of the key moments and thats just made everyone work even harder and smarter. At practice were not just trying to smash balls out of the nets all of the time; we are working hard on skills that well need in sub-continental conditions, especially against spin on worn pitches, and doing plenty of fielding drills to a high standard and intensity.Being able to draw on the experience of someone like Mahela Jayawardene has been a real bonus and its been great for the guys to talk through different scenarios with him. Leaarning from the master, Mahela Jayawardene During the tournament well definitely be looking to attack different bowlers so were expecting the same back and are ready for it.ddddddddddddWeve got all bases covered, with guys who bowl at different angles, with different trajectories and with different skills, which is crucial in one-day cricket if you want to make it as tough as possible for batsmen to line you up.Adil Rashid is going to be a massive weapon for us; he has taken his fine form from the Big Bash through South Africa and is now performing well here too. Rob Key looks at Adil Rashids technique during the series against South Africa I think guys are genuinely struggling to pick him and hopefully hell continue to take wickets in that middle period, which is crucial going into the back end of an innings. As for me, I feel pretty good having played a lot of one-day cricket this winter and am ready to go if selected. It truly is a dream come true to be here; Im still pinching myself a little bit! These things happen so quickly that you do need to take a few minutes to realise where youve come from.No one is getting carried away even though the vibe in the squad is very positive and thats brought the best out of us in training, especially in our football matches - the standard of which has been so good that Roy Hodgson should probably consider sending a couple of scouts out.You may have seen that Moeen Ali scored a fantastic overhead effort in training the other day. What wasnt widely reported was that it was subsequently disallowed on the grounds of height… Moeen Ali - the next Wayne Rooney?
